Windsor

Some Windsor historians claim it was named by a Pony Express rider circa 1855 who thought it resembled the grounds at Windsor Castle in England. In any event, Windsor is a lovely community in the heart of the Sonoma County wine country that prides itself as a deliberately-designed, family-friendly town. It is located between Santa Rosa and Healdsburg on Highway 101.

The Town Green is specially designed for pedestrians and hosts upwards of 30 annual events, including movie nights, concerts, a farmers market, car shows, art fairs and festivals. Windsor also hosts the Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic and the Wings Over Wine Country Air Show.

The Old Downtown has lots of boutique and artisan shops with dining opportunities to entice any palate. More than 30 wineries are within a ten-minute drive, elevating the Sonoma wine country to rival Napa. In addition, Windsor is becoming well-known for its health and fitness services and its holistic approach to wellbeing.

Windsor's growing population of school-age residents has influenced the town's enhanced development of schools and parks, shaping its character into a charming family-friendly town that appeals to visitors and new residents alike.
